1918 S Buffalo Nickel

Here is a 1918 S Buffalo Nickel that is the victim of 2 conditions. First, it has certainly been carried in pockets of many young boys over the years. Second, it seems that it has also been subjected to someone's meager attempts at defacing the coin. Scratch marks can be seen on both the front and reverse. Consequently, PCGS was only able to give this a grade of G Detail. You can see from the photos that the front of the coin (like so many Buffalo Nickels) is misaligned with the reverse by a few degrees, but in the opposite direction of most coins. PCGS (July/August 2021) indicates that a G 4 coin would be worth $16 and, in a rare example of unanimity, USACoinbook warrants that if you were to go to a dealer to purchase a G 4 coin that you would still pay about $16. However, because it has been the victim of brutality, you can have this graded coin for only $10 (plus shipping).

This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
