1920-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar Super Tough Date PCGS VF Details Env Dmg
Semi-Key Date in the VF/XF grades. This coin is freshly graded from PCGS as VF Details - Environmental Damage
The reverse is dark from being stored in an album for decades. PCGS and NGC definitely will use the ED designation for coins with terminal or near terminal toning as in the case of this coin. The obverse is stellar - all you'd want from a truly crusty original VF/XF Walker. In fact, I expected VF30/35 if they didn't bag it for being too dark (E/D).
The breast is 90% complete and has a strong right and left breast outline. The coin's designs are fully struck up and the overall eye appeal is good.
They don't come to auction very often
In fact, the 1920-D ranks 3rd lowest in the entire Walking Liberty series for total coins graded XF.
1920-D is definitely a sleeper date
Pictures courtesy of PCGS True View, as well as my own iPhone professional crap.
Please note the last 2 pictures were taken in September 2021 when the coin was still raw.
It is a beautiful coin in hand with very nearly XF detail.
Not cleaned, just too dark and near terminal toning on the reverse
