1923 (P) Standing Liberty Quarter with Major Die Break/Interior Cud. Solid Very Fine Grade With Original Surfaces. This extremely rare and fascinating SLQ variety/error is included in the excellent reference guide to the series, "Standing Liberty Quarter Varieties and Errors" (2nd Edition) authored by SLQ expert Robert H. Knauss. It is indexed as K-0178 and can be found on pages 322-324. It is also popularly known as the "Big Brother Teardrop Variety." This variety has a dramatic obverse interior cud in the recessed area on the left side of Lady Liberty by her right knee. Part of the cud virtually looks like another star directly to the southeast next to the actual star! The coin available here is of mid-die stage with the cud. All lettering on both obverse and reverse is clear and very readable. Grading is very subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
