The '24-D is one of the better produced branch mint issues from the 1920s. Lange asserts that 83% of extant Mint State examples qualify for Full Bands definition. We do not, however, wish to give the impression that the '24-D is a common coin in Gem Full Bands preservation. On the contrary, this issue saw such widespread circulation that Mint State survivors in all grades are scarce in comparison to the number of Mercury dime collectors in today's hobby.
