If you are assembling a high circulated grade set of Lincoln Cents this is the 24-S you want in your set as it is an early die state strike. 1924-S is notorious for being one of the most poorly struck dates in the entire series. In my experience the only dates where weak strikes are consistently a worse problem are 23-S and 27-S. For starters this coin is almost contact mark free. On the obverse I see one mark in front of President Lincoln's nose and on the reverse under the "M" in "America" there is a tiny planchet flaw that looks like a paint chip. The obverse has strong details in the hair with a sharp "S" mintmark and the beard even shows some detail. Normally you see a flat beard and a mushy mintmark on 24-S. Now what really makes this coin the cream of the crop is the reverse. The lines in the wheat stalks are razor sharp. The leaves are much better than average as more than 3/4 of them are completely separated. Normally on 24-S the leaves look as if they were made out of wax and appear as if they are melting next to an open flame. Most people severely underestimate how difficult 24-S is to find with such a strong strike as this coin. Don't you be the one to make this mistake. A prime example of 24-S like this is very difficult for me to locate it. Once this coin is gone it could take me several months to find another one.
