The 1926-D Mercury dime boasts a small mintage of 6.8 million pieces. While this date can be located in lower Mint State grades without too much difficulty, examples above the Gem level are very scarce. Coins in Superb Gem condition, exhibiting Full Bands definition, are extremely rare.
David Lange (2005) writes of the 1926-D dime that: 'Finding one with both full bands and a fully struck legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA will be challenging
