Here is a 1926 P Buffalo Nickel that has been graded by PCGS as VG 8. It was originally submitted to PCGS as a 1926 S Buffalo Nickel, but as you can see from the photos, it seems that someone decided it would be a good idea to eliminate the mint mark. (I can't imagine that this was the result of normal wear.) In examing the coin, I believe that I can still see the remains of the "S" mintmark, but then, that may be wishful thinking on my part. Certainly, PCGS is not comfortable declaring it an S but have no problems in giving it a numerical grade of 8. Thus, it has gone from a $50 coin to a $6 coin. (For what it is worth, you can also tell from the photos that, unlike so many Buffalo Nickels, the front is aligned almost perfectly with the reverse.) PCGS (July/August 2021) indicates that a VG 8 coin would be worth $6 and USACoinbook warrants that if you were to purchase a VG 8 coin from a dealer that you would pay approximately $2 (and it probably will not be graded). However, you can have this graded coin for only $2 (plus shipping). I would recommend that you purchase this coin with at least 1 other so that the shipping cost is effectively eliminated. To do so, please note the instructions below.
This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
Unlike my other coins, I am reducing the shipping cost to $4 (basic postage for a bubble-wrap mailer) and not sending this via Certified Mail. Thus, the buyer would assume all risk of the coin arriving. However, should you wish to buy this coin with other coins, then it would be covered with the Certified Mail for the other coins. Also, the shipping cost goes down considerably.
If ordering multiple coins, please note that the system only allows for those instances where you might buy more than 1 of a given item as opposed to buying multiple items. Thus, if you buy more than 1 item (or coin) from a vendor, you could be socked with what seems to be outrageous shipping costs. To overcome this, order all of the coins you want, but do NOT pay yet. I will then go in and adjust the invoice to bring the shipping costs to a more reasonable level. At this time you should pay me.
If paying by check or money order, this coin will be shipped once funds have cleared.
Thanks for looking.
