Here is a 1927 D Buffalo Nickel that has been submitted to PCGS for restoration and graded as VG 8. This coin was sent in because I was convinced that it was an D/D FS-501 variety. While there is definitely something funky going on with the mint mark (I'm convinced there is another D behind the final D), the definition of an FS-501 is that there are two re-stamps of the mint mark: one above and one below the final "D". However, the final "D" is located too low for any previous "D" to be seen and all we have is the one above the final "D". Thus, my mistake becomes your gain. You can see from the photos that, like so many Buffalo Nickels, the front is misaligned with the reverse, but only by a couple of degrees. PCGS (January/February 2022) indicates that a VG 8 coin would be worth $13. However, you can have this restored and graded coin for only $9 (plus shipping).
This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
To ensure delivery, this coin will be sent via Certified Mail.
If ordering multiple coins, please note that the system only allows for those instances where you might buy more than 1 of a given item as opposed to buying multiple items. Thus, if you buy more than 1 item (or coin) from a vendor, you could be socked with what seems to be outrageous shipping costs. To overcome this, order all of the coins you want, but do NOT pay yet. I will then go in and adjust the invoice to bring the shipping costs to a more reasonable level. At this time you should pay me.
If paying by check or money order, this coin will be shipped once funds have cleared.
Thanks for looking.
