This 1927-D AU-50 Peace Dollar has the typical sharp strike for the date especially in the feathers of the eagle. The reverse is strong for the grade and the obverse is typical. All the little light contact marks on the obverse prevent the grade from going higher. What should however stand out to you as you look at my pictures is that this 1927-D has an original silver patina. As this is a better date so many have been dipped over the years to an unnatural zombie like appearance. If you are a new collector of Peace Dollars please take the time to look at this coin. Notice how on the obverse that the luster appears hidden to muted by the light contact marks? This is how an AU-50 Peace Dollar is supposed to look. A cleaned coin will have an unnatural bright appearance as it was dipped that way to hide all the light contact marks. This is often done to make a coin like this appear to be an AU-55 which it is not. The tragic result of such an action takes a highly sought after attactive coin as it is pictured here and turns it into a coin worth just over a junk silver dollar. This 27-D will be a great addition to high circulated grade set of Peace Dollars. (Stock #1D1927350LJBPAP)
