1928-S Peace Dollar Doubled Die Obverse. As can be found on the vamworld.com website, this DDO is NOT VAM 3, but rather, it is VAM 3A because of the die file lines (die scratches) on the obverse. About Uncirculated ++ Grade with original surfaces that have not been messed with. This DDO is included in the Top 50 Peace Dollar VAMS. Strong obverse doubling on this Peace Dollar can be seen on the letters OD of GOD, WE, the letters TR of TRUST, the back side of the hair bun, the back of the hair, the back of the neck, the right side of the tiara rays, and the designer's initials above the date. This variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties 5th Edition Volume 2, is indexed as FS-S1-1928S-003, and can be found on page 388. The rims are free of any noticeable blemishes. Quite a bit of the original mint luster is present. Grading is subjective. Please carefully examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
