Add a piece of history to your collection, with this 1935 German 5 Reichsmark coin. Struck in 90% silver, it was planned to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Potsdam Garrison Church. Unfortunately, the occasion coincided with Hitler’s rise in Germany – leading to the symbolism on the coin’s obverse.
Built in the 1730s during the reign of Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I, the church burned shortly before the end of WWII in Germany. Then, from July 17 to August 2, 1945, Allied leaders met in that same city for the famed Potsdam Conference.
