1935 D nickels are plentiful in Mint State, though gems comprise a small minority of these coins. Many of this issue were coined from very worn dies or were simply struck from dies set too far apart to completely fill the deeper cavities. Luster is OK for most, but those from badly worn dies will have deep furrows that do not reflect light in a pleasing manner.
1935 D nickels offer a wide array of repunched mintmark varieties, and the better of these are recognized by NGC under its VarietyPlus Service.
