Mintage a small 5,374,000. In the depression out west where released very few were saved over the years and many melted from the 1980s onward when silver spiked.
90% silver.
These quarters were cheap from the 1940s through the 1970s and many were put into the quarter albums were cleaned or dipped multiple times to make them look more appealing
Anytime you see a non professionally graded circulated coin that is very clean and shinny in most cases it has been dipped, cleaned, or altered to make it look better for a higher asking price.
Very few circulated early date Washington Quarters remain uncleaned and therefore the low numbers in certified circulated grades.
Cleaning reduces a coins value 60 to 80 percent.
