Here is a 1938 D Buffalo Nickel that has been submitted to PCGS for restoration and graded as AU 58, almost good enough to justify a designation as an MS coin. It was sent in because I felt it was a D/D; alas, I was mistaken, although I remain convinced that this is an example of the second D being stamped almost exactly on top of the previous D, and that there is another D behind this one. However, it is what it is, and my mistake is your gain. As you examine the photos, you can see that, like so many Buffalo Nickels, the front is misaligned with the reverse by several degrees. PCGS (September/October 2021) indicates that an AU 58 coin would be worth $22 and while USACoinbook warrants that if you were to go to a dealer that you would pay almost $9 for an AU 50 coin, they also state that an MS 60 coin would cost you $24. However, you can have this restored and graded coin for only $19 (plus shipping).
This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
To ensure delivery, this coin will be sent via Certified Mail.
Please note that the system is not structured to adjust the shipping charges unless I was selling several coins under a single listing. (I have not seen anyone on USACoinbook do this.) Thus, if you were to order multiple coins from me (each a different denomination/year/mint/grade/etc), you could be socked with what seems to be outrageous shipping costs. To overcome this, order all of the coins you want, but do NOT pay yet. I can then go in and adjust the invoice to bring the shipping costs to a more reasonable level. At this time you should pay me.
If paying by check or money order, this coin will be shipped once funds have cleared.
Thanks for looking.
