1939-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar with Repunched Mint Mark (RPM) #1 D/D North in a solid extremely fine grade. The repunching of the 'D' mintmark is easily seen in the attached photos. This variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties 5th Edition Volume 2 on page 272, and is indexed as FS-50-1939D-501. On the obverse, Lady Liberty's breast plate is full and complete. On the reverse, the eagle's neck feathers are just beginning to appear. A light touch of the original mint luster remains on this coin's original surfaces. According to the PCGS website, the current market value for this variety in an extremely fine 40 grade is $125.00. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
