1939 NGC PF68* Mercury Dime, STAR REGISTRY QUALITY, nicely mirrored with frosty cameo!

here's another beautiful registry quality piece with light satiny cameo frost on the devices and great eye appeal as noted by the STAR designation. the strike is strong with FSB and the mirrors are deep, a true PQ specimen with no spots or heavy haze like so many of these proofs in slabs. pay close attention- there are a lot of high grade proof mercury dimes available with that stressed die look, more of a semi-prooflike than a proof. they will be discounted usually so price doesn't equate to quality like this piece. if you are looking for the best for your set, this is a nice looking lady in a top tier holder at a price you can live with. we note only 10 other 1939 PF68 STAR specimens graded but none listed for sale presently. NGC doesn't publish valuations for STAR specimens but they list a slightly more common 1942 PF68 PLUS designated specimen at $5,400.00. we'll price this outstanding beauty at a much more affordable price. how scarce are NGC PF68 Star slabs? there are only 48 pieces graded such across ALL DATES of the Mercury series. this was one of the nicest coins in my set, grab it before someone beats you to it.
