This is an outstanding 1940-D Jefferson Nickel which has FULL STEPS. Now how tough are those to come by. You can loupe coin after coin and find so few. I really like the nickel color on the coin especially on the obverse. The coin may look GEM (MS-65) to you. If fact this is one of those coins you see you think GEM and then ALMOST. The almost in this case is that when I loupe the coin, and I emphasize that you have to loupe the coin to see it, there are about 20 very minute chicken pox spots running from Jefferson's head to his collar and then to the letter "G" in "God" in the motto. They are not active spots. Once again you cannot see them unless you loupe the coin so this coin will look great in any GEM set of Jefferson Nickels.
