1941-D Silver Walking Liberty Dollar Very Choice BU Uncirculated PCI Tan Border Holder

1941-D 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar in very choice, borderline Gem BU Condition.

This coin is encapsulated in a highly collectible old PCI Holder with the Tan Border.

This coin is fully uncirculated with very strong and intense full mint bloom. No trace of wear at all and no signs of cleaning, hair lines or any type of surface probems or rim bruises to point out.

It is my opinion this coin is borderline gem quality and although the PCI tan holders don't get the same respect as the green borders, I believe PCI got this one right.

PCI was around since the 1980s. At one point they were sold to Hallmark but then they reacquired the company after Hallmark failed to make a go of it. PCI was well known during this era when they were using Green and Red Borders as having accurate, if not conservative grading and amongst the num ismatic community were considered to be for the most part, consistent, reliable and accurate with their grading. In later years, perhaps in the early 1990s with the introduction of the gold border slabs their reputation started to falter and by the late 1990s after PCI was bought out by an international firm, they were relegated to a laughing stock and joke as far as a quality grading service
