Many rolls of 1941(P) nickels were preserved by speculators, though most of these have since been broken up and the better coins certified. This issue is plentiful in Mint State, but its quality is highly variable. Nice ones may be found, but collectors will have to sift through many pieces to find one sharply struck from fresh dies. More typical is the coin above, which clearly was struck from worn dies having deep furrows in the fields.
Examples displaying five full steps are collectable, but those have six steps are rare enough that only the most determined specialists will seek them.
