THIS IS THE SINGLE FINEST 1942/1 DIME IN TERMS OF NUMERICAL GRADE. The only other MS66+ (cert. 82417755) WAS REJECTED BY CAC (because in our opinion it is artificially brilliant/white, like many in high grade slabs). LIKE SEVERAL COINS THAT WE ARE ADVERTISING, WE OWN THIS COIN BUT MAY HAVE IT ON CONSIGNMENT WITH ANOTHER SELLER. IT IS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY. WE OWN OVER 8,000 PCGS/NGC COINS THAT ARE ON CONSIGNMENT WITH ABOUT 14 SELLERS.
Many if not most 1942/1's slabbed in high Mint State grades have been doctored (laser treated, spot dipped, dipped, recolored, smoothed, and/or otherwise enhanced). But this PQ beauty is 100% original and non-tampered with, as evidenced by its prestigious CAC certification; thick, original "skin"; attractive natural toning; full luster; and my 30-plus years of hardcore experience (I have been a dealer since age 12). Note that a CAC sticker alone does not guarantee originality, as we have seen numerous high grade CAC examples of this issue that are artificially white and brilliant -- and/or otherwise "improved".
Again, the MS66+ population is two with none finer in non-Full Bands, but this is the only CAC example (the other MS66+ was rejected by CAC), which makes it the single finest 1942/1 dime certified in terms of numerical grade. The highest graded with Full Bands is MS66 without the Plus. WE OWN SEVERAL OTHER 1942/1'S IN XF TO MS66, WITH AND WITHOUT FULL BANDS. LET US KNOW WHAT GRADE YOU WANT.
This amazing piece has nary a major mark nor other flaw; you will need a very strong glass just to see even the slightest imperfection. The luster is so thick that it makes a foggy day in London seem clear.
A green CAC sticker means that a coin is very choice and high-end for its PCGS/NGC grade, and could even grade up to above average for the next grade up. In other words, a green sticker coin could be under-graded. CAC rejects the vast majority of coins that they evaluate.
A gold CAC sticker, which is almost never anointed, means that a coin is definitely under-graded by at least one full grade and would receive at least a green CAC sticker in the next highest grade. Fewer than 700 of the 700,000-plus coins evaluated by CAC have received gold stickers.
