A 1942-S Jefferson Nickel (35% Silver) US Mint Coin in "Very Fine" Condition.
In order to conserve nickel, a metal crucial to the war effort, the composition of the five-cent piece was altered in 1942. It was anticipated these coins would be withdrawn from circulation after the war, so a prominent distinguishing feature was added. Coins from all three mints bore very large mint marks above the dome of Monticello. Order this historic San Francisco issue today!
