1943-D Washington Quarter Doubled Die Obverse (DDO). This popular variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume 2, indexed as FS-25-1943D-101, and can be found on page 178. Strong doubling on the ear, hair curls, the chin, and the queue. Although the attached photos make the obverse look like it is harshly cleaned on Washington's cheek, I can assure that is definitely NOT the case. Rather, the "lines" you see on Washington's cheek are very fine die polishing lines which is perfectly normal, and cannot be seen with the naked eye . I have been in this hobby long enough to know that this coin HAS DEFINITELY NOT been cleaned. On the reverse, there is a long die crack that extends from the rim by the letter Q of QUARTER all the way to the middle of the wreath above the "D" mintmark. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
