This high-mintage issue is very common in Mint State, with a generous supply of gems. Most are lacking Full Bands, but the greater submission of FB coins for grading obscures this fact. In any case, there are enough nice pieces to satisfy collectors of any budget. With nearly 200 million dimes struck at the Philadelphia Mint during 1943, the number of dies required was likewise quite high. This begs the question of why there are not several doubled-die varieties known, yet just a single DDR has been found.
