1943 P Jefferson Nickel (DDO)

Here is a 1943 P coin that has been sent to PCGS for restoration and graded as AU 55, almost good enough to justify a designation as an MS coin. It also carries the certification as a DDO coin that is a minor variety. For what it is worth, the front of this coin, like so many other coins, is offset from the reverse by a few degrees. I have really struggled to set the price for this coin. PCGS (January/February 2022) indicates that an AU 55 coin to be worth $3 while USACoinbook warrants that an AU 50 coin would sell for almost $4 but an MS 60 coin would sell for almost $7. But this is not your typical 1943 P nickel; instead, it is a minor DDO variety though not the standard DDO (FS-102 or FS-103). (Note that the coin number on the PCGS label is "V4018" and not "569483" (FS-102) or "569485" (FS-103). A "4018" coin would be your standard 1943 P coin.) Further, PCGS also shows that an AU 55 DDO coin to be worth $80. So while this coin is certainly worth more than the standard coin, the question is, 'How much more?' Thus, I have decided that you can have this restored and graded coin for only $19 (including shipping).

This item is a part of a liquidation sale currently in progress and is priced to sell. Retirement looms and with no one else in the family interested in this pastime, it is time to find new homes for all of my coins. Please note that other avenues of liquidation are being explored so this particular item may not be around much longer.
