1945 (P) Walking Liberty Half Dollar "Sunburst" Variety. About Uncirculated ++ details. The coin has a few hairline scratches in the field to the right of Lady Liberty indicating a previous light cleaning. First discovered in 2019, the "Sunburst" variety consists of fine lines radiating from the center of the obverse, and are clearly visible within and above Lady Liberty's outstretched right arm. These fine lines were more than likely caused by stress fractures in the obverse die. NGC actually has this variety included in the "Varieties Plus" link on their website. Thus, they will attribute AND grade this variety. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
