1946 (P) Walking Liberty Half Dollar with CONECA Doubled Die Obverse (DDO) #2 AND Doubled Die Reverse (DDR) #3 in Extremely Fine Grade. The 1946 WLHD DDO offered here is very similar to FS-50-1946-101 (which is CONECA DDO #1) as found on page 279 in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume 2. However, this is CONECA DDO #2 based on the fact that this variety also features DDR #3 as found on the Variety Vista website. This DDO #2 features a strong doubling spread (in a slightly different direction than DDO #1) on the fold of the flag in front of Lady Liberty's left arm and behind her hip and back, and on the right side of her left breast. The reverse side features a light doubling spread on the eagle's upper wing, the eagle's beak, the cactus, the letters LURIBUS in PLURIBUS and the lower parts of the letters in UNITED STATES. Excellent close up photos of the doubling can be found on the varietyvista.com website as well as the die markers that match up perfectly with this coin. Specifically, those die markers are many die scratches north to south in the field above the letters URIBUS of PLURIBUS, and several die scratches east to west behind and in front of Lady Liberty's face. In my opinion, this WLHD grades Extremely Fine with original surfaces that have not been messed with..Grading is subjective. Please carefully examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
