1946 (P) Walking Liberty Half Dollar Doubled Die Reverse. AU 53 details grade. Original surfaces that have not been messed with. A good amount of the original mint luster is present on the fully original surfaces that have not been messed with. The 1946 Walking Liberty Half Dollar DDR offered here features the strongest and most extensive doubled die of the entire series, and is in great demand. Strong doubling is visible on the eagle's large wing feathers and left leg, the inner parts of the cactus branches, the letters LURIBUS of PLURIBUS, and the letters UM of UNUM. Excellent closeup photos of the doubling can be seen on the variety vista website. This variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume 2, indexed as FS-50-1946-801, and found on page 280. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
PLEASE NOTE: #1) There are several rim nicks on the reverse, and a couple of small ones on the obverse. #2) Also, this coin is DOUBLE LISTED. It is listed under the Walking Liberty Half Dollars category, AND ALSO under the Cherrypickers' Guide Varieties category. If this item should sell under THAT category, it will immediately be deleted from THIS category.
PLEASE NOTE: According to the PCGS website, their price guide states the current market value for this variety in an AU53 grade ia $225.00. Because of the rim issues on this coin, the price I am asking is greatly reduced.
