Item Description
1947 Boordgeld Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland 5 Cent Token. AU. This token was issued by the Steamboat-Company Netherlands after WWII, one of two shipping companies to issue metal tokens. After WWII the Dutch were not allowed to carry Dutch currency outside the country. Shipping companies issued tokens or paper money for on board use. This is literally then, "Ship's Money".
