Lustrous examples having full or nearly full strikes are available with a bit of searching, but the generally superior quality of Denver Mint coins began to falter in the post-war years. Only the consistently poorer quality of P and S nickels made the D issues look good.
A few repunched mintmark dies are noted for 1948 D, but these are not dramatic enough to have broad appeal.
