The huge mintages of 1941-46, combined with a post-war economic slump, reduced coinage of dimes to the point where 1949-D became second lowest mintage of this series from the Denver Mint. Enough were saved in rolls, however, that Mint State coins of average quality are plentiful. This issue is readily available through MS 67. Since Denver consistently struck the sharpest coins during this decade, there are a fair number of FT examples, too.
A couple of minor repunched mintmark varieties are known, but these have elicited little interest from collectors.
