I got into collecting US Coins for a couple decades, then started seeing world coins were very interesting and that you can also learn a lot form them about Kings and Queens and what was going on
in those time periods. You would be shocked at just how many countries Great Britain had a hold of at one time. Very cool and any old coins or silver coins in decent shape will always be of value later on.
So collecting coins has many benefits. Be it that you stock piles them of find them in the dirt with a metal detector like I have several of my own.
