In 1951 Philadelphia's production of quarter dollars still outstripped that of the Denver Mint, but there would be a lasting role reversal the following year. America's economy had recovered from the 1949-50 recession, and the 1951(P) quarter was made in greater numbers than any issue since 1946. Gems are common through MS 66 and available to the advanced collector in MS 67.
A few DDO varieties exist for this issue, but these are not well known in the hobby.
