1956 (P) Washington Quarter with the RARE Type "B" Proof Style Reverse in Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. This popular variety features the "proof style" reverse which was put into production on some business strikes at the Philadelphia mint from 1956 to 1964. The 1956 examples of the Type "B" reverse are far and away much more difficult to locate than the other Type "B" Reverses from 1957 to 1964. In detail the Type "B" Reverse features overall high relief of all devices on the reverse as well as a pointed leaf tip extending above the arrow tips, the leaf touching the letter A of DOLLAR, and the large gap between the E and S of STATES. This variety is included in the Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume 2, is indexed as FS-25-1956-901 and can be found on page 201. Grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
