PROOF LIKE
These Lines are NOT Incused
Meaning - the obverse working die,was harshly polished to remove unattractive defects, as a result, when the coin was struck with the aforementioned Incused die (they all are 'cept for a Bella Lyon Pratt design,) the die polishing lines - resulted in obtuse lines in the field! The polishing were pressured out - made smooth on the devices - because of the difference in height between the field and design.
Why is this important? Well for me at least, it's a hands on piece of history that transports me back to the time and place where this took place!
