This is a 1963 full red Proof Lincoln cent with a doubled die reverse that is listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1963 1¢ Pr WDDR-010. A strong spread towards the center shows on the letters of ONE CENT. Doubling also shows on the left side of the Memorial building and on the UNI of UNITED. This variety is illustrated in The Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents - Second Edition where it is valued at $125 in PR63 condition. This coin would grade at least PR63. This variety is EXTREMELY RARE!!! Proof cent dies are used to strike about 3,000 proof coins before they are retired from use. That means that it is extremely unlikely that more than 3,000 specimens of this variety exist. The photos seen here are file photos and may or may not be photos of the actual coin being sold here. We can not shoot photos of every single coin that we are selling here. Satisfaction guaranteed. Full 15 day return privilege as long as the coin has not been removed from the 2x2 in which it was sold. You can rest assured that you are getting a genuine doubled die variety. I am the John A. Wexler who has authored or co-authored numerous different books about die varieties including the original The RPM Book, The Complete Price Guide and Cross Reference to Lincoln Cent Mint Mark Varieties, The Lincoln Cent Doubled Die, The Best of the Jefferson Nickel Doubled Die Varieties, The Best of the Washington Quarter Doubled Die Varieties, The Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents, Treasure Hunting Buffalo Nickels, Treasure Hunting Mercury Dimes and several others.
