ATTRIBUTION:
This Type II obverse subtype constitutes a slender minority of 1876-S trade dollars.
Obv. II: The banner inscribed LIBERTY ends in two points aimed down. The 6 in the date is repunched along with surface doubling on the 7 and 8.
Rev. II: There is no berry below eagle’s claw. Micro S mintmark position is left.
This specimen is the very scarce Type II/II variety with micro mintmark and repunched date. Small rim nudge at 12:00 obverse and 3:30 reverse noted.
