Most numismatists are aware that all 1981-S Business Strike Anthony Dollars were produced exclusively for the regular Mint Sets sold to the general public and for the Anthony Dollar Souvenir Mint Sets sold to visitors of the three mints. What many are not aware of is that all the 1981-S Business Strike Anthony Dollars were bagged by San Francisco Mint personnel. The bags were thrown onto trucks and trucked to the Denver Mint where they were put into the 1981 Mint Sets & 1981 Anthony Dollar Souvenir Mint Sets. Because these coins were all bagged and endured a rough ride to Denver (over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains) most of the coins suffered bag marks. As a result, most 1981-S Business Strike Anthony Dollars grade at most MS-63 (Choice BU) with some following below that into what I consider pocket change.
