1982-P Kennedy Half Dollar "No FG" reverse. About uncirculated grade. This variety is included in The Cherrypickers' Guide 5th Edition Volume II in the Kennedy Half Dollar section, indexed as FS-25-1982P-901 on page 325. This variety can also be found in Dr. James Wiles Kennedy Half Dollar Attribution Guide (Copyright 1998 by CONECA) and indexed as UVC-#252/ADR-001 on page 288. The designers initials "FG" between the eagle's tail feathers and left leg (viewer's right) are completely missing due to over excessive die polishing to remove clash marks at the Philadelphia mint. The hair underneath the R of LIBERTY, and the serifs on the bottom part of the 1 of the date are also abraded away and are not visible. The half dollar offered here has seen some circulation, and nearly all of its original mint luster is present. It is a Stage C Late die state copy. Now 37 years since its mintage, this variety has become nearly impossible to find in change today.
The seller is a long time collector of 55 years, a contributor to the Cherrypickers' Guide, and a member in good standing with CONECA since 1998.
