1982-P Kennedy Half Dollar Abraded Die Reverse. The letters "FG" on the reverse have mostly been abraded away. This variety can be found in Dr. James Wiles Kennedy Half Dollar Attribution Guide (Copyright 1998 by CONECA), and indexed as UVC-#253/ADR-002 on page 289. The designers initials "FG" between the eagle's tail feathers and left leg (viewer's right) are nearly completely gone due to over excessive die polishing to remove clash marks at the Philadelphia mint. Only the very upper tips of the letters F and G are visible. The half dollar offered here has seen some light circulation, and nearly all of its original mint luster is present. It is a Stage C Late die state copy. Now 37 years since its mintage, this variety has become nearly impossible to find in change today. I would grade the coin offered here as AU-55. However, grading is subjective. Please examine the attached photos to formulate your own opinion in regard to grade.
