The 1993 Bill of Rights Silver Dollar and Half dollar were released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of one of his most important literary works...our nations Bill of Rights!
The "˜Secret' James Madison Coins
The 7 coins contained in this special U.S. Mint prestige proof set are as follows:
- the Cent, Nickel, Dime, Quarter and Half Dollar that were produced at the San Francisco Mint in 1993
- the special release Bill of Rights Silver Dollar and Silver Half Dollar.
These special pieces are iconic because they are the ONLY Silver Dollar and Silver Half Dollar Pair ever released by the United States Mint! That's right, this is the ONLY 90% silver commemorative half dollar ever released by the United States Mint!
The Silver Dollar's Obverse features a portrait of James Madison, while the reverse features a view of his Virginia home, Montpelier.
The Half Dollars design features an image of James Madison writing the Bill of Rights with Montpelier, his home in Virginia, is depicted in the background. The Reverse of this silver half dollar features a hand holding a torch, alongside the inscriptions - "˜United States of America', "˜E Pluribus Unum', "˜The Bill of Rights', "˜Our Basic Freedoms', and the coins denomination "˜Half Dollar'.
