The 1995 Silver Eagle marked the tenth year of release for the popular bullion and collector coin series. On the bullion side, the US Mint released the standard one ounce silver coins. The final mintage for the year was 4,672,051. Collectors were provided with two different versions of the 1995 Proof Silver Eagle as a way of celebrating the program's 10th anniversary. The first version was the 1995-P Proof Silver Eagle. This was the standard issue proof coin, produced at the Philadelphia Mint with "P" mint mark. The coins were limited to a mintage of 500,000 coins and offered for sale at $23.00 each. The second, and considerably more rare version, is the 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle. This coin was included as part of the 10th Anniversary Gold Eagle Proof Set, which included the four proof Gold Eagles plus a specially issued proof Silver Eagle struck at the West Point Mint and bearing the "W" mint mark. Because of the high cost associated with the set, the final mintage was a mere 30,125. This level was not uncommon for proof Gold Eagles, but represented the lowest mintage for a proof Silver Eagle by far.
