This is the first time I have seen a coin like this but this is just what I think happened. It looks like someone poured acid on it but this is why I think something else happened. What ever was in the mix had an affect on the planchet it ate some of the planchet away and made it silver colored and the metal flowed in to some areas of the planchet where it got eaten away. So that tells me the metal was still soft when this chemical reaction occurred and if it was a chemical put on by someone why didn't it go all the way through the coin instead it just goes a little ways through it looks like it stops where it meets the zinc metal so it only effected the copper. This is one cool looking coin so if you want something different in your collection this is it!
