The coin's obverse features a world map of the Pacific Ocean, Asia, and Oceania. Ian Rank-Bradley's right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara, long a fixture on the coinage of many countries and territories, is in the Pacific Ocean. Her name, "ELIZABETH II," joins the name of the issuing country, "TOKELAU," to the right side of the map. The coin's face value, "$5 DOLLARS," is inscribed at the top, while its name, "TERRA," and date, "2020," are at the bottom. Along the rim are stylized compass numbering and the GPS coordinates of Tokelau.
The reverse bears a map of the Atlantic Ocean, the Americas, Europe, and Africa. The name of the coin and date are again included at the bottom, and the rim, like that of the obverse, looks like a compass. The coin's weight and purity, "1 OZ FINE SILVER 999," are noted at the top. Just inside them are the GPS coordinates of Bratislava. On the right is the inscription "SERVA ME, SERVABO TE," which is Latin for "Protect me, I will protect you."
