This coin honors Iron Maiden, one of the most influential and successful heavy metal bands in history, with over 100 million albums sold. Throughout their career, they have performed over 2000 live shows. For the past 40 years, the band's famous mascot, "Eddie," has appeared on almost all of their album and single covers, as well as in their live shows. "The Number of the Beast," released in 1982, was the band's first album to top the UK Albums Chart as well as the US Billboard 200. It was also divisive, particularly in the United States, due to religious references in the artwork and lyrics of the title track.
