A.B.GALLOWAY CHAIRMAN 1922 5 MONTE CARLO BUCKS TOKEN
This token is a souvenir of the 1922 Northwest Merchants Convention held in Seattle, Washington. This event was held July 24-29 and attracted more than 3500 merchants from five northwest states, Alaska (then not a state), and British Columbia. The obverse features a bust of A. B. Galloway (convention chairman), with his name and title plus the words MONTE CARLO and 5 BUCKS. It is very likely that this token was used during an entertainment event during the convention (gambling?). The reverse has a central sunrise emblem, the date 1922, the convention name, and 5 BUCKS. This token was struck very well, with very good detail. References indicate a brass composition, and this token was manufactured with a bright light gilt surface treatment that mostly remains. The diameter is approximately 21 mm (13/16\").
This token is in extremely fine condition, with very light actual wear, limited signs of handling, and some toning, and it remains bright.
