The obverse depicts the Statue of Liberty at the center with 13 Rays emanating from the torch. The date 1776 on the left side of the Statue and 1976 on the right side. Under the date, "LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS" split equally on either side of the Statue of Liberty. At the bottom of the Statue, where her robes hang, the name, "F. Gasparro", the Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. Lastly, 50 Stars surround the entire coin at the rim, one for each of the 50 states.
The reverse depicts The Great Seal of The United States at the center. At the top of the medal, "AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL". There are two miniature "American Revolution Bicentennial" logos under it. Lastly centered at the bottom, "WE THE PEOPLE".
