Mintage was 36,454,000 - it was the only 50 cent coin in Australia for the first few years of decimal currency.
This particular coin shows reasonable cartwheel lustre and is very clean with sharp design details and no heavy contact marks at all. There are some very minor rim nicks mainly around the top of the obverse. The bodies of the emu and kangaroo show some contact marks.
Close inspection (3x magnification) of the obverse reveals some marks within the portrait - at the top of the forehead, beneath the eye and on the lower cheek - nothing heavy, but contact marks all the same. The fields are generally clean, however the obverse field shows light hairline scratching (?cabinet friction) most noticeable close to "1966".
There are, unfortunately, some touches of light rub evenly distributed over the coin - more visible on the obverse which has the faint trace of a fingerprint in the bottom left quadrant, and so this is not an uncirculated coin.
