BU Roll 1923 90% Silver Peace Silver Dollars 20 Coins Original Luster Not Dipped
Very nice BU Roll of 20 coins of 1923 Peace Silver Dollars, Philadelphia issues.
All 20 coins within this roll have a very evenly matched patina and overall look about them. Back in November 2023, I was fortunate enough to acquire an old collection from a family local here in Whitman. 2 sisters had come into their late brother's estate and he had this collection going back over 50 years. This was the same collection from which the 2 uncut sheets of 1991 Small Date Silver Pandas came from, a dozen or so 1st generation PCGS rattlers, a half dozen INS graded coins and INS encapsulated Morgan, Peace and Columbian Half Dollars (many at PCGS now, many kept in their holders). Most of their material hasn't been offered yet as I have chosen to keep most of it for now due to the rarity and quality of the collection
The coin s within this roll are all fully lustrous. Some have more contact marks than others and while there probably aren't any that would grade in the upper 4 or 5 numerical grades of the Professional Third Party Grading scale, most of these would fit in the 3rd through 5th slot of said Mint State grading scale if submitted.
You will very seldom see me use the term "Gem BU" as it is widely and loosely, way over-used by many today in my humble opinion. there are numerous people who literally use this adjective to every coin they sell. This has discredited the term Gem and makes Gem equal average if it is so abundant. If you have ever submitted coins to PCGS or NGC, you would develop a whole new respect for how difficult it is to get a coin to grade as a true gem.
