Up for sale are two (2) volumes of the Franklin Mint Great Historic Sites of America 1st edition proof medals. Each medal is approximately 27 grams of silver, which is approximately 0.9 troy ounces each (9/10 of a troy oz.), approximately 45 troy ounces of silver total. A troy ounce is 31.1 grams, so 27/31.1 gets you the equation to calculate the exact amount of silver. There are 50 sterling silver medals commemorating great historic sites in all 50 states. The collection is complete and has no duplicates. Each of the 50 medals comes in alphabetical order by US state and in the original envelope with its original 6 cent or 8 cent stamp. The stamps on the mailing cards run from December 14, 1970 to December 9, 1972. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail with signature required.
