Official Medal of the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, MO. There is some dispute over the terminology used to accurately describe the planchet compositions used for this issue. Hibler & Kappen originally separately listed Copper, Bronze and Yellow Bronze as HK-301/303/302 respectively. Modern research indicates that all of these compositions are essentially the same, and pieces cannot be so carefully distinguished. These were struck on site, and planchet stock was re-melted and reused daily, resulting in a mixed bag of composition, the color varying widely from a very red "copper" to a yellow "brass" depending upon impurities and the degree of Zinc and whiter metals included. In this case based upon observed grading by NGC I believe this is what they will call HK302, Yellow Bronze - the color seems obvious and the surfaces do not match the Gilt/Gold Plated examples I have seen & owned. Choice Uncirculated and well struck with only very minor roughness remaining on Jefferson's cheek, the principle problem area on this design. Some very minor flecks and spots should not limit the numerical grade.

This seller has enabled "Manual Invoice Approval" on their account. This means that after you complete checkout, you will NOT be automatically redirected to PayPal (if applicable) and will not be able to complete payment immediately. Instead, the seller will review the invoice and may, or may not, add or subtract additional charges, as explained in their policies and/or listing description. When the invoice is updated and approved by the seller, you will receive an automated email notification later, and you will be able to pay the updated invoice as you would normally.
All checks must clear prior to payment of purchase, which may take up to 12 Business days. IF YOU CHOOSE TO PURCHASE MULTIPLE ITEMS, PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE PRIOR TO PAYMENT. I combine all shipping charges to the minimum necessary to get purchases to the customer. Please be aware that the USPS has recently increased postage for package shipments and Insurance - $7-$9 for shipping may look like a lot, but it barely covers my actual cost. If you have any questions, just ask.
